Animals Double bass
Hey Chris,
Sounds to me like you used double bass pedal on Animals, but I saw in another thread you put a towel on the floor to make it sound like a bass drum?
Example would be 2:15 in Lemur just before the chorus, or 2:29 in Gibbon.
I've noticed live you don't use double pedal, wasn't sure if you did for this album or whether it was in fact the floor tom!
Also, when can we expect some more Otter Years stuff?

Re: Animals Double bass
Hey,
Thanks for your message!
Yes its the floor tom, not double bass. I cant play double bass at all, ive tried twice and gave up haha.
I put a towel on it and then we got it sounded like the bass drum in the studio, that way i could do some fills that sounded like the bass drum but were just split between bass drum and floor tom.
I havent done this on the new album though, as i wrote the parts with just a normal floor tom sound in mind.
Ah you listen to that stuff?! thats great! umm im not sure really as ive been concentrating on drum practise recently and havent even tried to write any music outside of TTNG for ages. ill see if i can get back to it soon

Re: Animals Double bass
Oh my gosh, I love you so much more as a drummer now. I always thought it was a double bass on some of the Animal songs. Respect for single pedal!

Awesome, thanks for the reply!
Does the towel just go straight on top of the drum?
