Drum Tuning
Chris, the sound you get out of your drums on Animals is the best I've heard, how did/do you go about tuning them?

Re: Drum Tuning
Hey
Ah awesome, im glad you like them! I think for that record, i just tuned them using a Drum Dial, then tweaked them a little bit til they sounded right to me. The floor tom has a towel on it to make it sound like the bass drum. The kit i used was a custom one built by Highwood Drums here in the UK, though I've sold that now.
The drums on the new album sound better though, mainly cos the guy who recorded us tuned them for me, and he is a genius at tuning drums!!
Cheers

drum tuning
hey man
if you want to learn drum tuning really easily, check out Bob Gatzen on youtube. He's a designer for Evans drumheads and he's got his own channel and a million videos through evansdrumheads channel on tuning every drum and what you can do to get tones for recording or for particular effects.
Obviously if you like the way your drums sound then theres no point in changing it - but his advice really opened my eyes to how little things make huge differences like reso heads and how dynamic ranges can affect your overall sound and the sound of the band.
Enjoy!
